Tips & inspiration
Roccaverano is set high in the hills of the Langhe. In the area around our holiday home, you’ll find many small villages and enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. We are happy to share tips and inspiration to help you explore the region. From the house, you can start beautiful walks or bike rides. Within an hour’s drive, you reach the famous Barolo vineyards (a UNESCO World Heritage site), with charming villages such as Barolo, La Morra, Novello and Monforte d’Alba. A day trip to the Mediterranean Sea is also well worth the journey.
Walking & Cycling
A wonderful way to truly get to know the surroundings of Roccaverano. The holiday home is the starting point for several walking and cycling routes of various lengths.
You can walk along small country roads or unpaved paths with little to no traffic.
The long circular route Cinque Torri (30 km) passes close to our house. This trail connects, in stages, the villages of Monastero Bormida, San Giorgio Scarampi, Olmo Gentile, Roccaverano, Torre di Vengore and back to Monastero Bormida.
Along the coast, you can enjoy beautiful walks in the nature reserve between Noli and Finale Ligure — a Mediterranean landscape with spectacular views of the Ligurian Sea.
Cycling
The area is perfect for beautiful cycling routes. An electric bike is recommended, as most routes include at least one substantial climb. Experienced cyclists will also find plenty of challenge and enjoyment here.

Flavors of Piedmont
Piedmont, in northern Italy, is renowned for its wines, hazelnut orchards, and white truffles.
There are many wineries in the area that are well worth visiting for a tasting.
Curious to see how a hazelnut transforms into chocolate spread or a delicious pastry? Visit one of the hazelnut farms in nearby Cortemilia to follow the process up close.
Roccaverano is famous for its Robiola di Roccaverano DOP, a wonderfully soft goat’s cheese. You can buy it directly from the farm or in the village.
In autumn, white truffles are found throughout this part of Piedmont. The city of Alba hosts a large international truffle fair each year, attracting visitors from all over the world.
Dining & Tasting
For lovers of Italian cuisine, Piedmont is a true culinary paradise. Whether you’re looking for traditional Piemontese dishes or a deliciously thin and crispy pizza, there are several restaurants within a 10‑ to 30‑minute drive from our home.
If you’re in the mood for a good gelato, you can hop on your bike or take a short drive.
A little farther afield, you’ll find wonderful culinary spots that make the scenic journey through the hills more than worthwhile.

Discover authentic towns & cities
Acqui Terme, Canelli, Nizza Monferrata and Alba are all wonderful places to visit in the area. These historic towns are easy to reach via scenic, panoramic routes.
Close by, you’ll find several medieval villages — including Roccaverano, which is within walking distance, and the charming Mombaldone, one of the Borghi più Belli d’Italia. Montechiaro d’Acqui is another lovely village to explore.
Genoa and Turin are Italian cities we highly recommend visiting, and fashion lovers will enjoy a trip to stylish Milan.
The Mediterranean Coast
A day by the Mediterranean is easy to enjoy from Roccaverano. In just over an hour, you can reach the Ligurian coast. The charming historic town of Noli is a wonderful place to visit, and Varigotti, Finalborgo and Varazze are also well worth a stop. And of course, you shouldn’t miss the Italian beach culture. Rent a sunbed at one of the many beach clubs and join the locals for a refreshing paddle in the waves.
Markets and Local Festivities
There are regular antique and curiosity markets throughout the region, including in Nizza Monferrato, Ovada and Acqui Terme. For your daily shopping, Acqui Terme hosts a lively market on Tuesdays and Fridays, while a bustling market fills the centre of Alba every Saturday. During the summer months, every village — no matter how small — celebrates its own festival, where wine, music and local traditions come together. We’re happy to share tips on dates and locations.
